My Little Box

Good morning friends,  Today I have a quick post for you.  I’m getting ready to leave for Cabo, however after posting the picture below on the Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators Planning Place I received a lot of requests for instructions.

I promised to either make a video or post written instructions.  Well, it seems that written instructions is what I have time to do.

Yesterday I was busy all day with my monthly open house.  The make and take I supplied to all attendees was made using this adorable stamp set ( you can see that card in the privious post).  In addition to the make and take I made these two samples for my guests to see.  I wanted them to know how versatile this set is.  Those who had time made the box and loved it.

Now I’m sharing the instructions to you.

To make this box I used two pieces of Basic Black cardstock cut at 3 X 3-1/2.  I scored one piece at 1 inch all the way around.  Then the second piece I scored just a hair smaller.  To make the second piece a bit smaller you need to score just under 1 inch all the way around.  If you score on 15/16 mark the box may be a bit loose when you put them together, so place your cardstock just a hair over that 15/16 line.  But if you place your cardstock to close to the 1-inch line, the bottom will be too tight.

Once you have both pieces scored they will look like this

Fold and burnish all your score lines.

You will need your bone folder, your snips (scissors), the Take Your Pick Tool and Tear and Tape.  Forgive the look of my bone folder, It is pretty old and has been used a lot.

Next, you will want to cut your tabs. This picture shows you where to cut your score lines.  Ignore the tape and punch at this point.  I will talk about that in a minute.  Right now just notice the cut lines.

In the photo below I’m showing the tape placement.  The two tabs on your right are folded up and then the tape is placed on them.  The two center tabs are left laying flat and tape is placed on them.

Using your bone folder burnish all your pieces of tape.  Then using your take your pick tool remove the protective paper from the tape.

Now fold in the two end tabs to meet ( make sure everything is even ) then secure the tabs together,  Then flip up the end tab to secure the end of the box.  Do the same to the other side.

On the lid of the box, you will want to punch half of a circle into the center tab on both sides of the box,  Having the grab hole allows you to open the box easily.

Once you have formed both the lid and the bottom they will slide inside each other.  Embellish as you desire.

After making this box again so I could take some pictures to show you the steps I decided to share with you some other possibilities.  You can use the apple punch to embellish this little box,

Caramels fit in the box perfectly.  Notice on this box, I punched the pull holes on both the bottom and the top,  I only did that because I couldn’t tell which one was the top at the time.  So if that happens to you, no worries just punch then both.

But wait there is more.  Use the Christmas Tree Punch too.  You can peppermints in that box.

Thank you so much for asking for instructions.  I’m glad you like my creation.  Enjoy your day!  I’m off to relax on the beaches of Mexico.  Adios!
