Happy Anniversary

Tomorrow Kenn and I will celebrate our 25 th wedding anniversary.

I made him a card this afternoon, it’s not very masculine, but it’s our anniversary and it’s from me, so I think it’s okay.

26 years ago my best friend asked me to marry him.  I was in shock, but managed to say yes.  This man saved me, he turned my whole world around.  Kenn took care of his daughter, me and my daughters.  He made sure all of us were happy, healthy and that we had everything we needed.  As I look back, I don’t know how we managed, we had a lot on our plates but we are a team and we got through everything together.

Now 25 years later Kenn is helping me care for my parents.  My parents live with us and I know I could not care for them alone.  Kenn continues to care for me and our whole family, I could not ask for anything more.  He is my hero.

God has given me two amazing gifts, my salvation and my family, I’m so blessed.

Now that you have heard all about us, you may want to hear about this card.  After all that is why you visit me right?

This card is made with the new in-color card stock Fresh Fig.  I embossed the body of the card using the new folder Layered Leaves.   I see myself using that folder a lot.

YOU guys are going to LOVE the fact that I now have the Large Letters Framelits.  Now you can use them at my open house events to personalize your projects and cards.  I love monograms and these framelits do the trick.

I wanted my letters to be beautiful so I embossed them using gold embossing powder and  versamark ink.  Color was added with fig and olive ink and an aqua painters.  I think floral design monograms are gorgeous.  The new old olive ribbon steps up this design and rounding the corners brings the card to the fancy category.  I added gold glimmer paper to the card just to make everything sparkle.

I hope you enjoyed your visit, thank you for stopping by.

A special Birthday

Today I’m making some birthday cards and a sympathy card.  All of the cards I made today are my signature white cards with a touch of color.  Here is one of the birthday cards.

Again I’ve used the score board to add texture to the layer piece of card stock and the envelope flap.

Copper embossing powder outlines the beautiful rose image and the sentiment.  Notice the ballon, to create this look I stamped the rose image onto the out line balloon stamp, isn’t it gorgeous?  Instead of using string on the ballon I used ribbon, it’s so much prettier.

Aqua-painters allowed me to color the rose and leaves very lightly, which makes the image so so soft.

This card is for a very dear friends birthday. So it had to be special.

A matching envelope makes the stationary complete.

I hope you enjoyed this post, I enjoyed sharing.

Wood Words

I’m a rooster girl however there is another stamp in this set that I think I may use even more than the rooster.  It’s the dainty floral stamp.  I’ve been stamping the floral stamp numerous times to create backgrounds and boarders.

I also used the Simply Scored board again.  I love to create the lined texture onto card stock.  It adds so much and just takes a minute with this tool.  I layered the scored card stock piece directly onto the card base using dimensionals.  With two backgrounds finished I decided I needed one more to go in-between the other two.  So I used the Watercolor Wash background stamp and crumb cake ink onto crumb cake card stock to add a bit more interest and flat texture.

The rooster in the corner grabs attention with the little scallop square cut out that it’s stamped on.  A Gold Faceted Gem creates shimmer and a touch of elegance.  I then layered the focal point onto a simple cherry cobbler square and layered it all onto a mound of lace, burlap and linen thread.

Stamping the floral stamp image onto the flap of my whisper white envelope completed the stationary.  I’m happy with the French country, farm house style look that these products allowed me to create.

I love the colors, texture and images on this card, it’s just so sweet.  This card will be at the Wine and Roses event in the Wood Words stamp set and Crate display.  We have ONE spot available!

Happy Birthday Gorgeous

The other day I made a shadow box card.  I made the inside then the cover but then I couldn’t decide what stamp set to use.

There are so many new stamps sets that I love, it made it hard to decide.  Finally today I decided to use the NEW thinlit HAPPY BITHDAY.  Ooh that font.  It’s so beautiful and the size worked perfectly for this card.  I have a feeling that I will be using this thinlet a lot!

Then I looked for a pretty stem and flower to stamp around the oval opening. The NEW stamp set Happy Birthday Gorgeous had everything that I needed, including the sentiment MAKE A WISH for the inside.  Making the shadow box is actually easy and the cover is super simple.

Word Patching

Have you heard of the technique “word patching”?  Most likely not because I believe I made it up!  I was working with a new stamp set called Crafting Forever yesterday and I wanted the card to say DEAR FRIENDS FOREVER.  But I didn’t have a stamp that said that, so I stamped two sentiments, one from the new set and one from another set and then cut out the words I needed and patched them how and where I wanted them on the card.  I’m tickled…. Now the endless possibilities have become even more endless.

I’m loving this stamp set, I started creating with it by just using one piece from the set.  I started with the flower pot.  In the set the flower pot is full of paint brushes and other crafting tools.  So I just cut out the pot and used it by itself.  After I watercolored the pot I filled it with a flower.

This new set doesn’t have a flower image in it so I looked over my other sets and found that the Birthday Blooms set not only has the perfect flower in it, it has the words I needed too.  The word DEAR in the Birthday set matches the word FRIENDS in the crafting set, font and all.

I’ve made two other cards for my display board in my shop using this set, you will need to pop in to see those.
